Blog # 1

My name is Allison Ankrum; I am 20 years old and a junior at Shippensburg University. My major is Elementary Education with a minor in Early Childhood. Some of my hobbies are playing softball though now I only play for fun, hanging out with my friends, camping, watching movies, and just going out in general, I love to travel I want to see the world and maybe teach abroad. Some things that I am interested in are the Phillies and the Flyers, also I am in a sorority Phi Sigma Sigma; the girls are my second family and I spend a lot of my time with them. This class is a gen ed. that I need to take, but I am interested in the cultural diverse aspect of this class.
Cultural diversity is the many different cultures making up the world’s population, living together. It is also highlights the differences between cultures. Cultural diversity was born along with the birth of our country, as our culture has developed. The United States is known as The Melting Pot. The awareness and value of cultural diversity has become the spoon that stirs the pot. Cultural Diversity is more in the public conscious today, people are thinking about it more and talking about where before people kept to their own cultures. Cultural diversity has become important, it’s not that people are becoming more proud of their culture but are showing that they are proud and that their culture is just a great as everyone else’s culture.
I Hope to get a better understanding and gain more knowledge of different cultures and what makes them different from each other, from this class
